Membership of FASTS

FASTS is an ‘association of associations’ and membership is open to;

  • all professional and learned science and technology societies in Australia, and
  • organisations with an interest in S&T policy (please note we do not offer membership to individuals.

The annual membership fee is determined by either

  • the number full financial members of societies not including students. The fee is indexed to CPI and is approximately $6 per head, or
  • by negotiation for organisations who are not based on individual membership or other approved grounds.

There is no additional joining fee.

All member organisations of FASTS may participate in all events and activities and are entitled to vote at general meetings of the Federation.

Members are aligned into ten disciplinary or two general ‘clusters’ - eg medical and cognitive sciences - and each cluster is represented on the FASTS Board. All financial members of FASTS member societies/associations are entitled to nominate for elections of FASTS office holders.

Affiliate Membership is open to industrial or Government bodies with an interest in S&T policy. Such organisations are full members of the Federation and have full voting rights at general meetings but are not entitled to nominate for office holders on the FASTS Board or Executive and do not have voting rights on Board or Executive.

If your organisation would like more information on joining FASTS then please contact the President or the Executive Director.
