Hi Matt, I have budgetmobile phone, and it hasn’t worked right since I got it. The guy Ace that’s handling my account won’t help just keeps telling me my warranty is expired. I didn’t even have it 60 days like he said . I asked for help last week and this week he us still telling me that. I am going to complain and file report to better business, and write a letter to lifeline government, this is just not right. I emailed budget in March to see if I was approved ,they said yes that was the 9th then it was about a week later I received phone, so I was in the 60 days.

      Hi Matt,

I tried to get budgetmobile but failed thousands of times, tried online application, or application via phone, or chat, all failed because of one simple reason: cannot find my with your lifeline database, I also called lifeline, verified everything is correct, it has to be because I am receiving other government benefits. Lifeline says there is not reason budgemobile cannot fine me or budgetmobile can simply start a new account, but budgetmobile said without db verification there is no way. So I could not get budget mobile whatever I tried. I ended up applying for tagmobile. Now lifeline system already shows that I am going to get a form to fill in to start the process. My question here is, the same as I asked both lifeline and budgetmobile: what or where is wrong, how can it get fixed so that I can get budgetmobile. I feel like you are the representative and will do anything you can to help, I am sure it is fixable, so I am hoping you can help, I understand without specifics you cannot find out the reason, I am not sure if you can get the email I used here to register the account, if you can, you can send an email to that account so that we can communicate offline where I can provide you more but private informations.

Good day.. I’m a distributor for a lifeline company. I’m based out of Louisiana, I can tell you this one thing that will help you resolve these issues. If you have applied multiple times for the lifeline program then there are mulitple applications opened in the system making it look like fraud. You’re gonna need to call 1-833-511-0311 and ask them to clear your ACP. Once they do that I would wait a Couple hours and pick one company (try Entouch or Safelink if they service your area) and apply again but only do it once otherwise you will have this same problem again good luck. I hope this helps..

    • Cindy Spence September 27, 2016 at 5:32 pm #

you never sent my Dad his phone and the day he was supposed to contact you to get another you informed him that you transferred his service to Entouch.. they will not send him a free phone for 90 days or he has to pay $25 for a replacement phone when he never even got the first one!! your company is like too bad so sad.. what a scam on seniors and veterans to make them pay for the phone.. shame on you!!!

      • Jolene Summers March 16, 2017 at 11:52 am #

I am telling you now that entouch sucks! They cut the text messaging down to 100 instead of 500 with Budget. They dont give you any notice of that change or anything. I paid a full month out of pocket after my minutes ran out super fast & was looking to change to a different company & as soon as I signed up with one they cut my phone off with me still having time left on my phone & knowing it usually takes a few weeks before you get a phone from another company.

Call customer service st 1-888-484-0985 they can put you back on the plan you orginally started with. Your agent probably made a mistake or the program that you qualified for but it’s an easy fix.

      Hey Matt,
About a month ago I put in for a free Government phone and was approved, the phone was suppose to be
shipped to my home address at 2018 Wynkoop Dr. Colorado Springs, 80909, and never received it, How can I
check to see if it was sent?

  2. anonymous August 20, 2015 at 11:57 pm #

I signed up for Budget Mobile roughly 2 months ago.

About a month ago, I received a phone, that after charging overnight the operating system didn’t come up, nor was it able to read the SIM card.

I was told that they were sending out another phone, and that I’d receive it in about 2 weeks! A bit frustrated, yet those things happen, I figured I would just have to wait about 2 weeks.

It’s now been nearly a month, and STILL no phone!

I called them several times, and would be put on hold, yesterday I was on hold for 2 HOURS, AFTER I’d called a couple of hours earlier, and their automated system tells me to press 1 to keep my place in line, and they’d call me back.

After 2+ HOURS on hold, as it was apparent I wasn’t going to get a call-back, and did not, the system message repeated that “someone will be with you” shortly, yet due to high call volumes, there may be a delay.

THEN, the system message changed! It THEN said no one was available and to leave a message, and they would call me back!

    They did not!

Their message states that you can chat with an operator instead of waiting on hold. This is also not true! AND in order to send a message, you need to have an email address! There was no live help, despite the tab on their website & THEIR hold message states they do!

I called back today, and finally got a human on the other end, after being on hold for another half an hour on a borrowed phone, AND using an email address that I arranger access to, until I can get my own.

No emails, despite a ticket being created! No phone calls, not a word.

When I got a human on the phone, she said she was sorry, but they were going to send another phone out, and it would be another 10-14 working days until I will receive another phone!!!

REALLY? Another 10-14-days of not having a working phone? And then, what if that phone, assuming I even get it, doesn’t work?

The phone I received is VERY cheap quality, and I have to wait & wonder IF this phone is going to work, assuming I get it at all?

The 1st, non-working phone took a month to get here! Now I’ve had to wait ANOTHER MONTH + 10-14 MORE WORKING DAYS to get another phone?

Oh, and the nearest store to swap out a phone is roughly 200 miles from my home!

Why do they have people sitting outside stores near my home when they don’t have any local services?

Their customer service is perhaps some of the worst I have ever encountered.

I called the FCC Lifeline Complaints Line and left a detailed message, as I suspect this company is using people’s minutes, paid for by our taxes, to make their own calls, or that they are getting Lifeline funds for services they aren’t providing.

At the VERY least, it is a terrible company as far as customer service, at worst, they may be fraudulently scamming the taxpayers as well as not providing services they are getting paid to provide!

Why can’t Cellular Lifeline simply reimburse descent cell phone services that work for regular cell phone services?

In addition, I live on the edge of service maps for all cell providers and there are only a couple in my area that work at all!

In order to have service here, in this mountainous area, you need a descent cell phone with a descent antenna in order to make or receive calls at all!

There are good phones and services that work well here, yet far more that do not.

After looking at the cell phone I was sent, my guess is if they send another, the quality is so low, I’m doubting even a working phone of there’s will be able to reach the tower.

They had already installed a SIM card when I received the phone, yet they CLEARLY didn’t test the phone at all, as there were error messages from the 1st charge!

The SIM card is not reading, the operating system at first wasn’t registering that it even existed… The phone was CLEARLY defective!

NOW, I have to wait another couple of weeks, (or another MONTH?) to get another phone, that isn’t likely going to work either?

    I’m NOT happy!

Verizon works the best in my area. AT&T & Boost are OK (occasional issues, but acceptable, as works most of the time.), T-Mobile is similar & other carriers have a mixed bag of results, mostly less than having an emergency phone when you need one.

If the government is going to pay a subsidy so people can afford Cellular service/ have a phone, why not go with existing services?

Why not allow people to choose their own service and pay a subsidy to existing carriers, instead of having people start new services that are clueless as to how to run a company, much less a cell phone service?

Boost & a few other carriers have a $30/ month unlimited talk & text service, often less than these metered services by these new, pop-up companies!

It would give reliable, uninterrupted service to those who need it the most AND cost less than this mess!

At this point, I’d like to switch my Lifeline service to another company, yet all these companies seem to have MAJOR issues with services, cell phones that don’t work, and customer service is abysmal!

These companies wouldn’t have a business if people weren’t locked into them! We’d ALL go with companies that provided descent customer service, picked the best quality phones available, negotiated a good solid set of phones that worked well in a variety of environments.

You can buy a new phone like that for $50 any day of the week! A smart phone at that, so people who need Internet for medical concerns, etc. would have access to the Internet as well! A descent service is only $30/ month! Properly negotiated & regulated, that could ALL be paid fir!, instead of having these fky-by-nights cost more in litigation and enforcement for these companies scamming both those who need phone service & Internet for job searches, health issues and so on.

I’d already contacted the two, supposedly “Best” Lifeline services, and after months, they couldn’t get an application to me! One FINALLY did, yet when called, they kept saying they never received it, and would send out another form. I never received it!

Our tax dollars being wasted, as usual.

    SO sad!

I’m tempted to find out how to get a company started like this start my own, if I have to do this from a hospital bed!

There’s NO excuse for this kind of thing.

Actually, looking at the list below, I recall contacting 2 of those companies! One of them never sent the paperwork to fill out!

If you’ve had a similar experience with these “Obama Phones”, I urge you to file a complaint with the FCC, and to write your Congressmen & Senators for your district/state!

Urge them to work with established, reputable home & cell phone providers!

These types of programs sadly lend themselves to scamming those who need these services the most, AND the taxpayers.

Let’s make America Great Again by calling this kind of crap on the carpet Donald Trump style! (It wouldn’t hurt to send him a Twitter message telling him that this is a need, yet one that needs to be negotiated and needs to work!

I wonder, should I need an ambulance, will I have a way to call one? Will I simply die at home? I don’t have the answer to this, but it is rather unnerving and has my family concerned.

These companies could CLEARLY care less!

I recommend Safelink. My daughter has never had an issue with her service through them.

    • Cindy Spence September 27, 2016 at 5:35 pm #

Be careful Safelink disconnected my Dad’s service after a month and blamed it on lifeline.. lifeline said safelink never registered his permanent phone numbe with them..

    Hi Jaramy,

Can you give me a phone? I finally got hold of people like you to ask my questions as a potential customer…..

Haha, I am joking. I will visit that site and go from there. Will I have a company sponsored phone (serious question)?

  12. Makerry Dillarde October 26, 2017 at 3:24 am #

TAG mobile is the worst. There is 1 guy and his lady in the whole of support, and all they do is lie to customers. They claim to provide 4G but they send a garbage phone that only supports 2.4G. When confronted with the said issue, they would ask you to make some configuration changes that do absolutely nothing at all.
The never work during their posted hours, and often transfer calls to voicemail. The lady is the more ignorant of the ignoramuses.
Stay away from TAG Mobile – a word to the wise is quite sufficient.

    • JediMasterQuiGon May 14, 2018 at 9:48 pm #

Yeah, my partner tried to call and got the answer thing, but their website always has the chat on for the most part if the phone doesn’t answer…and when I called, I got right through. I think they are VASTLY better than the awful QLink…
To each his own, I guess. At least they are GSM capable and will tell you if your BYOD device is acceptable before you sign up.

  13. JediMasterQuiGon May 14, 2018 at 9:46 pm #

I think QLink is the worst actually if you want to BYOD. The phone they do provide is awful. 4 gigs is terrible for space requirements as you cannot have ANYTHING else on the phone except maybe one other program and there is absolute NO WAY to root their ‘smartphone’ which is really a ZTE Uhura N817. If you’ve been following the news lately, ZTE, a Chinese company, is now known to be putting spyware in their phones so stay away at all costs from that garbage – not to mention there is no way to get rid of the bloatware on the thing as one cannot root it.

I don’t think that TAG is the worst option at all. It’s GSM capable (SIM card) unlike QLink which is CDMA (no SIM card) so at least if you bring your own phone you have a hell of lot more options. Look for a: GSM, 3g/4g, WiFi ready, unlocked smartphone of any brand and that’s it really – you’re good to go with them. Unlike QLink, you can call them and ask them right from the store where you are shopping and ASK if the phone will work and they will tell you (M-F 8 am – 2 am CST not bad hours if you ask me) compared to QLink where you have to purchase the damned thing and return home to unbox, look for the IMEI# and enter it on their website to see if the phone will work. That’s a friggin nightmare! Trust me, TAG is VASTLY BETTER than QLink unless you hate not being able to do squat with your smartphone or just want a phone to make calls.

It’s your choice folks… QLink is relatively banal in most ways but their phone is terrible and they give you ZERO OPTIONS for other phones. If they did, AND if they offered more support to assist those of us who have family that can afford to get some of us better phones with finding out which ones we could upgrade to with some support to find them, then I wouldn’t have switched, but they were NO HELP AT ALL even when I emailed them multiple times. I kept getting a standard form answer. Even when I called I was told to ‘enter the IMEI number’ of the unlocked phone I purchased’ and that they ‘weren’t allowed to recommend any phones’. Whatever, QLink…I understand the company might not be :ALLOWED” to recommend to a phone, but surely they could point us in the right direction? Or at the very least they could offer more than one phone for consumers on their site! Seriously in this day and age – only a 4 gig smartphone!?!? ARE THEY HIGH?
Stay away from QLink – they are in the stone age and don’t give a sh*t about you unless you threaten legal action… That’s an entire different story about how they sent me a phone which the number was either still in use or had been cloned as I was constantly getting texts and calls for some other guy until I threatened them with legal action unless they gave me a new number. They were obliging if I paid them money. I continued my threats of legal action as this wasn’t my fault and I wasn’t about to pay them either to change the damned number. I finally got the number changed too…but it took being on the phone for over an hour and speaking to three different people. Oh, and being treated like crap by this other person’s friends and family -even receiving death threats which is why I finally contacted them for a number change.

Honestly everyone. QLink is the worst lifeline service out there and I really recommend you stay the hell away from this skinflint, cheapskate operation at all costs. My cat could run a better phone service.
