I am trying to get a free cell phone for my brother, but he has no email address. He is using several of the program qualifiers and is low income. How do I do this, or through which provider? Also, I would like to participate in this program, and want to switch over my current Tracfone to a free cell phone. I also participate in several programs. How do I do this? Can I get a cell phone for both my brother and I, or is it limited to only one cell phone per household? We both live in the same house.

From what I understand, you should be able to contact the office where state asst is provided to you and or your brother. As long as you don’t share a physical address, you should both be able to get one that’s free if your getting the services in their guidelines per the state you live in, I don’t believe you need an email address for them, and if you do why not just open for your brother, he doesn’t ever have to use it, just keep it open and remember the address and password. There is also the provider assurance wireless

I have tried left and right to get a government phone as I am only receiving $436 a month from SSI which has proven to be nothing but a joke, I am hoping to get work but the minimum capabilities for contact with lack of internet makes it exceedingly difficult for contact purposes, Utah says it has “plenty of job opportunities and assistant programs” but I have not seen it once, Social Security Administration is a joke with financial assistance and forced my hand to get a job which I am capable of doing I would hope if I am able to be contacted for interviews however that is not a possibility without a phone so I’ve tried everything I can do. Not to mention the “National Verifier” is Complete Crap as it will not verify me with either my parents address or my own and says MY last 4 to my social do not match etc which is a complete load of crap. How can I get my feet on the ground if the system is set up and designed to make people like me to fail? =(

Don’t expect to get any help on this page – it’s useless. Google Utah Lifeline carriers and contact them directly. I know Assurance is in Utah. You can send them copies of eg Medicaid card, SNAP card by taking a photo on your computer. I assume you have a computer or you wouldn’t be on here!
