Budget Mobile sucks. The first phone broke so they were sending a replacement… The replacement got here and it’s broken already. It’s not an android, but it’s touch screen and the screen is broken (not cracked) but it doesn’t work you you try to dial, text or even get to the settings. I have to tap it like 5 times to get it to do anything, then sometimes it glitches anyway. It’s free because it’s a broken phone that someone got rid of… Because it’s broken. Better off using your lifeline credit for a landline.

I just dot a reply from Budget mobile, I needed a new phone mine was dropped and the screen cracked. I wanted to purchase another? There reply back was send $20.00 to their corporate address and they would send a new phone! (that scares me, Following the terms of my original contract they better send me an android like I first received,,,,, I’ve read they went over budget (LOL) and are in hot water, we’ll see M.S,L.

I am 57 years old and currently receive Medicare, (Permanent Social Security Disability). Medicare is not noted above as a qualification for a free cell phone. However, due to my special needs, could I still qualify for a free cell phone?

All you complaining people, crying over free phones that me and other Americans are helping you get. Stop being cheap and PURCHASE your own phone

Good luck with getting service on your own phone if you live in Northern CA. I went through the entire list and every single one of them I called required me to drive about 500 miles one way to see one of their reps to activate it. Absolutely absurd. Like I’m going to drive my car that far when as a disabled person that cannot drive in the big city because of severe PTSD no way!

I would love to save the state some money but I can’t because I’m limited. Oh if I want to use a free phone and I got three that were duds, I can sign up from the convenience of the web or a phone call if I am willing to accept another dud phone at the cost of Uncle Sam.

    • Disabled (NOT MY FAULT) June 16, 2016 at 10:59 pm #

Sorry, “NOTYOU” but some people cannot work and do not have enough money to AFFORD a cell phone. I am disabled (not my fault) and cannot work. I cannot begin to tell you how much I HATE my condition. When I could work, I could afford nice things. WHY is it that people like you cannot understand that when someone is permanently disabled, they cannot work? I am not lazy, and I am certainly not RICH from the $221.00 I get per month from the government. I am grateful for what I get because from it I need to pay my rent, phone (landline) (AND NO CABLE!), electricity, and gas. If you feel it’s your business to tell me to buy my phone, then it’s MY business to tell you — YOU try living like this! I’m being evicted because the owner needs more money to pay for the water bill and the garbage bill, and I can’t afford the rent hike. I also cannot find a suitable place to live because there is just NOTHING available. YOU TRY TO LIVE LIKE THIS! Even if I found a place, I DO NOT have the money to move. Go ahead, YOU TRY LIVING LIKE THIS and you will see that those of us who ARE living like this are not drinking champagne and eating filet mignon and caviar. Good gravy, wise up!

You shouldnt have to explain anything to anyone. You worked so youre entitled to get what you need because you paid into it They dont pay your bills so they should just shut their pie hole. Good luck to you!
My mother always said never look down on others your circumstances can change in the blink of an eye “NOTYOU”

        • Mark February 21, 2018 at 8:26 am #

          I CONCUR,AND IT ISN’T FREE,IF YOU PAYED INTO IT.

    • SMARTdisabled September 24, 2017 at 10:29 pm #

I don’t think you fully understand “NOTYOU” that there are many individuals who need assistance at times. My situation is that I have a family and can’t work anymore. You never think a medical condition can suddenly take everything you worked hard for away. I have epilepsy. If you thought positively, Americans should help each other BECAUSE we are Americans and your comments regarding free cellphones isn’t about anyone being “cheap”. The government made this program to help those who want to keep their employment, stay in touch with relatives as well as their medical care. Everything isn’t always given to us or someone like you for “free”. There is a price to pay for everything you need or even want. Your comment about buying our own cellphones is an ignorant one since you can’t see situations that may not pertain to your life and you have a problem with this program. Are you living paycheck to paycheck, getting an education that doesn’t require you to pay back loans, unemployed and trying to get back up to survive? Something can happen to you where you may need help one day. Keep your rude comments and thoughts to yourself since we don’t need anymore problems. Judging others isn’t how I was raised. “When you point your finger to others, two are pointing back at you”.

      IT IS MY PHONE,AND I PURCHASED IT,DUM DUM.lol

    • Peter Proff September 26, 2018 at 11:02 pm #

You are an ASS as the phones are paid for by the carriers who do business in the state you live! I once had a free phone and found it a necessity and have since graduated to a purchased phone and would and will gladly pay the tax to support this fine service. You are the vermin that makes people in need afraid to use these wonderfule services. SHAME ON YOU AND ALL THOSE WHO THINK THIS WAY AS THAT’S FU@#ED UP.

My name is Charles Laws, Friday October 27th, 2017, at the location of 3rd. street and Palou in San Francisco CA, I had given my CA, ID and medical card to an Assurance Lifeline representative, Explaining my phone had been lost or stolen, and what recourse could I take. Problem was I was working on a paper at the library located at 3rd and Revere streets, and I never returned to retrieve my phone or status. I have since been trying to contact a San Francisco Rep or office.

My name is Patsy, Friday Feb.9, 2018, Yuba City, Calf. Every Gov.phone I have had, (2) I have gone to a local public place to pick up. They set up booths around town. They post location, sometime on Craigslist the days hours, for signing up. You always left with your phone. Takes about 15 minutes. That way you see what your getting. Around my area they compete who can get the best phones. Sweet huh.We also can call Calif. lifeline Service Dept. and ask if booths are set up in area..
